DIY Greenery Centerpiece

I bought this pot at a garage sale... almost a year ago! (it originally comes from target) I was driving by and saw it sitting on the table, and just had to have it! I thought it was gorgeous! So I put it on my patio (empty) and there it sat... for almost a year!!!! A few months ago I was considering making My daughter a flower costume for halloween, so I bought some greenery leaves at walmart.... but it got too hectic so she was a bumble bee instead.... (sorry this is the only image I can find...)

Then I randomly had some moss and a big styrofoam ball laying around... when I got an idea! I wanted to put a plant in it originally, but could not because it had no holes for water to drain out the bottom so the plants did not do well (I tried) So I decided a fake plant would do! I am sure you could by one the right size... but that sounded more expensive because A) I already had some greenery and B) its probably cheaper to do it the way I did. So if you are interested in doing it the way I did, heres how: So First I spray painted my ball green so the white wouldn't show through as much...

(I used the big one, I have other plans for the other balls). Then I put my ball in the pot and situated the moss around it, and some covering the ball to disguise it a little better. Next, I began poking the leaves into my styrofoam ball, situating and facing them the way I wanted. sometimes I poked a whole strand in, other times just a single leaf.

After I reached a look I was satisfyed with, I put it out on my new patio furniture!! (sorry I have yet to take the tags off, lol)

DIY burp rag

My baby boy was coming soon and I needed some burp rags for him! so I decided to make some!!!

I picked out the fabric I wanted to use and cut out two kidney shaped pieces (Just free handed it) I used a cotton material. different types will work as well, they just need to have some absorbancy. I tested this by dropping a few water droplets on my material first. Next I cut out the same shape in a very thick plain white cotton (not batting, fabric) Because it was very absorbant. I lined up all 3 pieces and stitched all along the outside about 1/2 inch seam allowance using just a straight stitch. After I clipped little slits all along the outside. this pic is before washing. After washed the outside will fray but stay put because of your seam! Looks super cute! If you prefer no frayed edges, try zig-zagging all around the edge instead of the sraight stitch with 1/2 inch seam!

Frameless "Framed" Picture

So I bought this lovely picture of the Mesa Temple... like 6 months ago. I have never been able to find a frame to fit it (11x17)... And I had this blank canvas laying around.... then I got an idea! I spray painted the canvas black, put some mod podge in the center after it had dried, and flattened my picture in the center! (I did not mod podge over the picture as I like the finish of the actual picture, and I didn't feel it was neccesary)

A Much cheaper version would be to use something other than canvas, but I had nothing else to do with mine :) I would suggest wood, a shoe box lid, or you could build your own "canvas" by nailing four pieces of wood together and stretching fabric over them, then nailing in the back! this would allow you to find a fabric with a fun pattern rather than spray painting!

sprucing up a plain old garbage can (my first mod podge project!)

So I was super excited to use mod podge, and now I love it! I had this cheapo white garbage can in my guest bathroom, and the rest of it looks so nice, I just had to do somehting about the garbage can, as I am too cheap to go out and buy a nice one! If you chose to do this, I would suggest a straight flat edge garbage can as mine curved, which made it harder but still possible

so I cut out the right sizes I needed in scrapbook paper, and mod podged the garbage can. then put my paper on, and mod podged over the top, trying to smooth out all wrinkles and bumps, but I didnt 100% succeed....

this was my first time using mod podge and I did not realize how quickly that stuff dries!!! So it isnt perfect... but I still think its cuter! and you cant really see all the mistakes unless your looking close... and I dont think anyone will be inspecting my garbage can while using the bathroom... I hope!

sprucing up a picture frame

so recently I bought this picture frame from Walmart.... (please bear with my pictures, I am waiting on some new ones, but I needed to put SOMETHING in those blank spaces so I could hang it up!)

cute, but I am sure like a million other people have this exact same one.... so I spruced mine up a little bit!!!

I like it much better! More unique! So how did I do it??? It was super easy! I turned the frame upside down and traced the lettering onto scrapbook paper (I did each letter indiviually as I wanted each letter from different paper) Then I put some mod podge on the frame, and lined up my paper! then I put more mod podge over the top to finish it off!!!
